No more dummy!

I took my daughter to the dentist for the first time today. She is 2.5 years old. They told me she had a slight overbite due to her using a dummy (at night time only). Any advice on how I can wean her off the dummy 🫣 or do I just get rid of it completely??

Cutting the tip off apparently works x

I went cold turkey for both mine 7 months and at 13/14 months I’ve heard people do give it to fairies depending on how much they understand that

We went cold turkey one night and then she never had it since

My 2nd had a dummy and literally took it away one night, she screamed until she went to sleep that night and then didn't need it any other night

We used cutting the tip method as recommended from our LOs dentist and was gone within 2 weeks no issues! X

I just went cold turkey 2 weeks ago with my son on a random friday afternoon (he was sitting on his dummy) i just ended up taking it away, he asked for it the first few days but hasn’t asked since, we gave him it once at night after a nightmare which he literally was inconsolable from, but other than that he’s not had it at all or even asked, and my 6month old has a dummy and he’s picked it up and just gave it to baby, so I really recommend cold turkey! I thought bedtime would be the hardest but it wasn’t too bad! Just do it! I thought we’d never get rid of it!

My daughter was obsessed with a digger building outside everyday. So we said to her every morning let's give the digger your dummy, and then you can have it back at bed time. So we would pretend to throw it out the window to the digger and then digger would throw it back for bed time. Until one day, we couldn't find it and so we told her that night that digger decided that he wanted to keep it this time and that she was too grown up for it, and she was fine with it xx
