How to get my breastfed baby to take a bottle

Hey all, need some advice. I've been exclusively breastfeeding my 6 month old and now want her to start taking a bottle here and there so i am able to leave her with family members if i need to go out and have some me time. I left her with my mum on Saturday night for a few hours and pumped some milk in a mam bottle in case she woke up. Got the call from my mum saying she's refusing to take the bottle. Any advice on how to get her to start taking it. Any recommendations on which bottles I should use? I don't plan on stopping with breastfeeding but would like her to take a bottle and not rely on the boob so much especially if i want to go out

Maybe try different teat sizes?

At 6 months it’s quite unlikely they’ll accept a bottle if they aren’t used to it as it takes a completely different skill/ motion to drink from a bottle compared to the breast and babies have lost the innate sucking motion they’re born with by this point. Have you tried a sippy/ open cup? You may have more success although my baby is a year on Saturday and has never accepted milk any way but direct from source 🙈

Oh no, i was expressing and bottle feeding when she was a newborn here and there. She will happily take water from the mam bottle but when it comes to milk she sticks her tongue out and will refuse

Have you tried her with an open cup? My daughter likes oat milk but freaks out if it’s in her usual water cup as she’s expecting water😅 sounds like it might be similar if she usually uses a bottle for water? Could also be a temp/taste issue, I have high lipase so my milk goes bad really fast, or maybe she doesn’t like it cold?

@Lauryne she uses a sippy cup for water with no issues, im thinking maybe the teat of the mam bottle she doesn't like. Im trying to find bottles that replicate a nipple so she might take it hopefully

@Isabella thank you will deffo look into these x
