Baby resisting naps

My 7 month old has recently started resisting naps and hard to put down for bed. We aren’t on a specific schedule with naps, we just follow his cues. Once we see the sleepy signs we take him to his room, give him a bottle, rock him etc., but it takes forever to get him to calm down and sleep. He’s a great nighttime sleeper (generally sleeps 12ish hours between 6/7pm-6/7am sleep), we’re just having issues getting him to sleep suddenly. Any tips?

At this age you could try letting him fall asleep independently. Are you waiting until he's asleep in your arms before putting him down?

@Melissa up until this point we didn’t contact nap, but for the past week or so I’ve been having to rock him to sleep and he falls asleep in my arms. When I try to put him down he cries, so I just deal with holding him for his nap 😅

I would advise rocking for a set period of time and leave the room for a few minutes, even if he cries. He might start falling asleep independently again

Mines been a day sleeper pickle since 3 months, (she doesn't even fall asleep in the car even when tired). I just make sure o have a drink and a snack for the cuddle naps (I know not helpful advise) You could try the sleepy but awake technique along with just sitting there so they can see you. Sometimes patting theor chest or bum while they're in the crib can be the reassurance they need

@Helen good to know I’m not the only one! Mine has never been a great napper, either, but lately it’s been extra rough! I’ll give these a try :)

@Sarah Mike 6 months and litrally sleeps maybe 2 hours a day in the cot the rest is in our arms either on the sofa or in bed. We have tried to put her down but she just wakes every 10 minutes to 30 minute if you're lucky and I really don't cope with sleep deprivation well. I will try for 2 hours and just give up because I'm then awake.
