Breastfeeding

After a very rocky start of baby being in nicu for 3 weeks, my milk supply dwindled to basically nothing. He’s now nearly 7 weeks old and after working very hard, continuously pumping and breastfeeding, my milk supply is now nearly where it should be to exclusively breastfeed. Only issue is, I now have extremely cracked and painful nipples. I can’t bear the pain of breastfeeding so am currently just pumping to keep my supply whilst I heal. I’ve been using lanolin for the last 3 days constantly but they’re only getting worse and the pain of pumping is now getting too much☹️ please help

Hi momma, fellow NICU momma here! You’re doing great. First, your pump shouldn’t be hurting so maybe try and resize your nipples and see if that helps? I also found a manual pump like the medela to be much comfier than an electric. Have you tried just organic coconut oil?

@Katelyn I used the momcozy nipple measuring tool to determine flange size, I think the damage is from breast feeding on demand, every 1-3 hour and pumping after every feed for 30 minutes☹️ I haven’t but I’ll get some tomorrow, thankyou
