Nuchal 4mm at 13 wk

Hia, Just looking for abit of support and guidance, really. Had my 12 wk scan today. Baby wouldn't stop moving, sonographer really struggled with measurements then the majority were 3.5-3.9 shes measured it at 4mm. We were took into a quiet room, told all info. Had basic bloods took, will wait for the results then have the NIPT bloods if required. Has anyone ever had these private? Already been referred to fetal med and a scan in 3 weeks when i am 16 weeks. I so worried, cant stop crying. Just looking to chat to others in same boat as I don't know anyome who has experienced this. Thanks, Jodie xx

Hi Jodie, my daughters was 3.5mm at the 12 week scan. I ended up having the CVS but you can get the NIPT first course. So you are seeing fetal med in 3 weeks? I personally would just ring them and ask for the NIPT now. It’s the waiting that is the worse. As they would have taken your bloods for the normal tests anyway but with the nuchal at 4mm and your age it will probs come back high. I had my fetal med appointment the day my bloods came back which was 1-17 chances of DS. Again my sonographer couldn’t get an accurate measurement Please try to not worry. My daughter is now here perfectly healthy xxx

@Rosie thankyou so much for your reply. They have said they will only offer the NIPT if and when my results come bk. Which like you say will be high which i am expecting. Hopefully shouldnt take 2 weeks i have emailed a few private clinics to check for availability/prices. Just awful, thinking of the worse. Xx

Hopefully the results shouldn’t be long. They normally don’t! I know it’s the waiting, try to keep yourself occupied! Also ratios are soo much worse. 1 in 17 chances what we had is actually 6% chance so a 94% chance it’s not!. Sending love xx

At my 12 week scan I had a measurement of 3.4mm and my blood results came back high as I have low PAPP-A, so it gave us a 1 in 5 chance of DS. Had an NIPT and everything came back low risk, currently almost 25 weeks with a healthy baby boy. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry, the stats sound way worse than what they are and if baby won’t stop moving (my boy is very active too!) can also make it soo difficult to get a correct measurement. If there were no other markers for DS etc, such as heart issues, fluid around the stomach you will most likely be fine. Stay positive☺️.
