Baby starting nursery and engorgement

Hey! My baby has started nursery 3 days a week from today and usually he still feeds every 3 hours or so through the day.. well I am super engorged already 🙈 Just looking for some experience from other mamas and what you did! No plans to stop feeding, we feed on demand when together. He’s never taken a bottle and won’t take milk from a cup etc so pumping is a waste of time and milk. If I just hand express a little off each time I feel really full how long does it take to settle? I’ve never had mastitis and am mildly terrified of getting it now 🙈 Baby is a week shy of a year old for reference. Thanks in advance 😊

Boobs are so good at regulating so just hand express like you said when you need some relief. It will be uncomfortable for a little while but give it 2-3 days and your supply should adjust to the new routine ☺️

My breastfeeding guru (read: peer supporter at support group lol) advises that your boobs will quickly learn the days of the week and will adjust to keep supply more chill on your work days whilst leaving enough to feed on demand on your days off. Of course this is only true if you work regular days each week! Hand expressing is def the ideal way to go, but if you need to pump to take the edge off just go for as little as poss to regain comfort and aim to reduce the time you pump every day by 1/2 mins. Your body will catch up really quickly, usually within a few days 🤞

Thank you both! Fingers crossed my body gets the memo pretty quickly🤞🏼
