The lady who ran our antenatal class said you’d have to eat a huge amount of pineapple in order for it to do anything of note.
Nothing 😆 it's also pineapple core that contains the most bromelain so you'd have to eat the hard but, and looooooads of it. There has been a study where I think they dropped pineapple juice onto the dissected uterus of animals (rats I think) and they saw "contractions" of the uterine tissue, but that's literally as far as the data goes 😆 It's popular in the IVF community as bromelain is thought I reduce inflammation so many people eat it for that? I wonder if it's a spill over from the IVF community too
Had pineapple for lunch to test this theory and don’t feel any different (small portion tho tbf😂)
There’s an enzyme called bromelain in pineapple which has potentially been linked to starting labour but the evidence is really poor, and I’ve read somewhere recently that you’d have to eat 8-12 whole pineapples for it to have any effect 😅 It’s also very acidic so could give you heartburn, and it can give you an upset tummy if you eat too much so I’d go easy on it personally!
