Main pram or travel pram for holiday?

Has anyone just taken their normal pram on holiday? I have the Icandy orange 4 for reference and have been looking at getting a travel pram but I don’t know whether to bother? Our basket on the Icandy is big so I feel like this is handy, and the pram parent faces (baby has just turned 5 months) whereas travel prams don’t. Is a travel pram worth it or just take the normal pram away?

I took my main pram when they were under one, more for comfort for baby and sleep! You just risk is getting damaged, though I’ve never had a problem, maybe just a scratch or 2… maybe consider a bag to put it in?

We have used both while travelling. With the travel pram the main benefit is that it can come in the cabin with you, so you’ll always have it available. As sometimes they don’t bring it to the gate when you land. The other benefit how easy it is to fold & carry if you’re travelling somewhere where there’s less accessibility. However, I prefer my ocarro, even for travel as it’s all terrain & little one has always found it to be way more comfortable. I would 100% put it in a bag tho as you would probably get scratches on it otherwise.

I travel a lot so I use the yoyo travel pram and it’s the best thing I ever bought personally. I even use it now as my day to day toddler pram at home. I would never take my normal pram though, I love my Ocarro and I’ve seen a lot of broken and banged up baby items at the carousel for collection before. Baggage handlers dgaf and if that’s your only pram you are buggered if it’s damaged/broken/lost whilst aboard and when you get home.

We’ve chosen to take a travel pram with us when we go away soon as it’s only £50 and we think we’d rather lose that money than the money we’ve spent on the main pram. I think it will probably be easier too and we will take our baby carrier so me or my partner will wear this most of the time anyway x

I just take my normal pram, I bought it to get used and not to worried about a scratch or 2

We’ve taken both our spare pram (Ocarro) and a yoyo on holidays with us. Taking the pram is no harder than a travel buggy, we just bag it up at the gate and it goes in the hold. The only perk of the travel buggy is you have it straight after you disembark as sometimes it can be quite a walk/a wait

@Hannah thank you! If it goes in the hold do you only get it back at the carousel with luggage or can you ask to have it sooner do you know?

@Evie Mai it really depends on the airport you land. If you disembark with an air bridge you’d just get it with luggage, but it you walk down steps they sometimes leave them out to get. You take a carrier for the airport

I got a free second hand buggy (fwiw it's an icandy orange too) and we're using that for holiday. Our main pram cost too much to risk it getting broken or lost, plus we love it so would be gutted if it got lost/broken. I've got an xl gate check bag for it to go in and if it gets bashed about a bit it's not the end of the world. Whether you get it back at the carousel or as you disembark will very much depend on the airline/airport/the staff, but I think the majority it'll be carousel. I'm bringing my sling for the airport just in case.

I got a cheap travel pram (miniuno touchfold) that doesn’t look or feel cheap and I take this as I travel on my own a lot and my ocarro is quite heavy and harder to fold/unfold and carry up and down stairs if needed. I also really like it and it was expensive so dont want it damaged. X

@Evie Mai It completely depends on where you fly into and if you have an air bridge or steps. Each time we’ve flew we’ve had it come out with the luggage so a carrier is really handy x

@Nicola see this is my problem with a travel pram too, my LO is tall but skinny and even though she can sit, when in a travel pram she’s so unsupported and wobbles around! Was your pram okay otherwise? I was thinking of just padding it out with towels in a bag

@Hannah okay thank you so much! Yeah we’ll definitely take her carrier too☺️

@Evie Mai yes it was absolutely fine 🥰 we got it from the luggage carousel at the other end but weirdly it was in a different place to the suitcase so be mindful of that, our bag is really distinctive so we noticed it walking past!! That wasn’t an issue, I didn’t feel the need for a carrier, we got fast tracked through the family lane so I wasn’t holding him for long. X
