How soon did you know, on reflection?

I'm just wondering when those who have children with autism reflect back to them being babies, what were the first inclinations or signs that now make sense? And how old were they when you first started suspecting? Asking as an autistic parent with a 5 month old

My spouse and I are both autistic so we knew the odds our daughter would have it were high so we were on the lookout from day 1. We started noticing around her first birthday. Toe walking, stimming, lack of eye contact, not responding to her name, and speech delay were our primary indicators.

My son was 14 months when I noticed he was different he’s now 2.5 and just had his official diagnosis

My gut instinct was autism when he started hand flapping, can't recall exactly how old he was but it was before he was 1. Met all his milestones though, except talking, still waiting on that. I'd say it was more obvious around 15months with eye stims, not talking, unlearning skills. He's 3 in February, no official diagnosis yet but I've been told by health professionals he'll likely get diagnosed at the next paediatrician appt

It was little things once he started walking. Difficulty drinking from a cup, speech delay, running everywhere, not being able to go up a ladder in the park (gross and fine motor skill delay), playing with leaves or running the perimeter and not on the equipment, making patterns with everything.

2 or 3 when I noticed but a friend with an autistic son convinced me he wasn't. Wish I hadn't listened

My son doesn’t have a diagnosis yet, but both me and my partner are autistic, so if our son isn’t we’d be shocked. If I look hard enough, even from 8 months old there are signs, but I’m not majorly concerned yet, the only delay we’re encountering is a slight speech delay but he has words he says & communicates well in other ways

Thank you all so much for taking the time to answer.. I think I am the same as many of you. I am probably going to be surprised if he doesn't. But at the same time I don't want to be jumping to that conclusion from what may be neurotypical baby behaviours. He's my first and I'm probably observing things extremely keenly!
