Dummy or Thumb?

My 4month old never took a dummy infact I never really actively tried her with one as personally I didn't want her to have it. (Not against others using them btw) But this past few days she's found her thumb and is constantly sucking it. Now I'm conflicted. Do I give her a dummy or let her do her own thing? I don't mind her sucking her thumb but is there any bad factors that come with it?

Sucking the thumb can cause the same issue with their teeth as having a dummy with prolonged use. I’ve heard both are fine until about 3-4 (not 100% sure on this). But a dummy you can take away. I’ve heard it’s much harder to make them stop sucking their thumb further down the road.

It’s totally up to you and what you would prefer. You can’t take a thumb away but you also never lose a thumb- she’s never going to drop it in the car and scream when you can’t reach it or lose it in her bed and wake up crying for it.. so there’s positives and negatives both ways!

We never did dummy’s either and lo just sucks her thumb sometimes, I sucked my thumb when I was little and just stopped one day, it’s hard because you can’t take it away but at the same time it’s their body part, you’re not going to loose it or have to worry about comfort it’s good to self soothe.

Definitely dummy you can’t take a thumb away and it’s unhygienic

@Chloe did their thumbs ever get sore or anything my little girls is slightly red already, I tried her with a dummy last night but my god the dribble was awful not like with her thumb x

@Jade that's my thoughts when she's crawling etc soon I can't keep her hands clean 24/7 but then again neither can I a dummy x

@Nicole no mine never did and my lo didn’t either, it might even be a phase or red just because of teething etc so baby might be sucking hard.
