The nurses told us we need to wake up baby every 2-3 hours to feed them so even if baby doesn’t wake on their own maybe just wake them every 3 hours for a feeding

@Priy That's what I was told as well. 🫶

@Priy same

Baby should be woken up to feed until they reach their birth weight again. They are so sleepy to behind with you really have to work to get them awake and eating sometimes

It really depends on baby. Our son was born Friday and slept 6 hours straight the first night and then we woke him. The pediatrician that saw him in the hospital said that was completely fine and we can do whatever works for us as long as he is feeding fine when awake and gaining weight! He said he never suggests waking baby unless there is a reason like slow weight gain or supply issues. We followed this same philosophy with our first and second as well. Our first also did long stretches right away and gained weight great and our second woke up on her own very often (1-3 hrs) and needed to because she was very little.

I would just talk to your pediatrician about it. My baby was getting enough milk and gaining enough weight I was “allowed” to let him sleep for longer than the recommended 2-3 hour stretches.
