Breast changes

Oh my gosh it’s so nice to hear someone else say this! I thought it was just me! I keep thinking my god my nipples are still small and nothing has darkened, no leakage and I’m 36+1! You’re not alone but this is my first so I don’t have advice on if it’s normal either x

Your ability to breastfeed has nothing to do with how your breasts look or what size they are, milk is produced by demand so aslong as you’re latching baby as much as they want you’ll get milk

I thought the same, but in all my research I found size doesn't matter. I'm 35w5 and gained 23lbs, yet I fit into my pre-pregnancy better now. If you also haven't gained excessive weight by this stage, my theory is that although we're gaining weight with the baby, fluids, etc. I think we must be losing fat which is what's keeping our breasts small. One really weird thing I experienced is scabs on my nipples for the last 2 months. I did nothing thinking they'd go naturally, but they didn't. As I kept worrying that I'm not producing colostrum, I finally just put coconut oil on yesterday and rubbed them off really easily. Instantly I started producing colostrum from where the scabs were apparently blocking it. If you haven't yet harvested any colostrum, I'd suggest starting that now and getting used to hand expressing it. I also learned that the more comfortable you get with hand expressing colostrum, the easier it'll be do to with breast milk and it'll also be easier for baby to latch when they're born.

@T I've only gained about 3/4kg at 37 weeks, midwife commented on how little is put on at my last appointment. And I started collecting colostrum a few days ago, managed to get some, so will keep at it and hope that helps.x

Same my boobs look absolutely no different to ever. They’re quite small and often have flat nipples too. But everyone’s reassured me it’s no bad sign of anything
