Bedtime

Those that have older children, when did you start putting them to bed earlier? She usually goes to bed when we do at 10, wakes up around 4 and goes back to sleep until around 7.30. Last night my partner took her up to bed at 8.15 so obviously she woke up at 6 this morning which has annoyed me cause my day just feels so much longer😂. At what point should we be doing an earlier routine? It was nice to have time alone but I don't really want to be getting up too early when we have nowhere to be

I should clarify, she fought going to bed and didn't get to sleep until 9 which she never does. If I thought she needed an earlier bedtime I absolutely would, I'm just wondering at what point people generally implement that

It’s so hard to explain, but I just sort of hit a point when I knew she needed an earlier bedtime. She was much unhappier in the evenings and wasn’t as happy dozing on and off with us downstairs. It wasn’t till about 3-4 months though. This time I’m going to try bring bedtime forward gradually rather than a big 2hr change… that was the mistake we made first time around. My little boy is 10 weeks and he’s going to bed when we do around 9.30-10pm, he doesn’t seem ready to try yet x

@Annabel thank you! I'm thinking of moving it gradually by half an hour, she's only 11 weeks but that's not far off 3 months so was worrying that I should be starting it sooner, might start by getting her to sleep for 9.30 and go from there!

My older daughter had a solid bedtime of 8pm by 4 months she usually woke once at 6 am had a bottle and went back down for another couple of hours sleep. She always slept like clockwork though i could time her from about 6 weeks lol. My 9 week old on the other hand god knows I will try to implement bedtime at 4 months like her sister had but we will see....
