Big breasts and feeding

My LG is 7 weeks old and we are breast feeding. I have relatively large breast and find I have to make an oval shape with my boob in order to get her to latch but in the last week or so, if I don’t continuously hold my breast, she unlatches instantly. This hasn’t been a problem before. Is anyone else the same or have any advice? Doesn’t seem to matter what position we use either.

Try to lean back a bit to let your breast kind of fall into her mouth. Another thing u could do it get a boppy and a stool and put your feet on the stool to help elevate her head more, I would use one hand to keep my boob from covering my lo whole face and push it back while leaning back. It’s gonna be more difficult cause they are so young and tiny and barely able to keep their head up alone. Another position I did was putting her on the pillow and me on my back next to her and let the boob closest to the bed kind of rest on the same pillow next to her head a little bit.

It’s probably because little one can’t breathe. Unfortunately it is rare but it has happened where babies can get suffocated by breasts when in a lower position. Maybe try to have baby breastfeed while you sit up and have baby almost have tummy time to feed? Best of luck momma

@Cindy I may give that a go. Her nose is completely clear although she seems to be getting a bit of a cold so I do wonder if that’s part of it. Thank you!

I have big tatatas and have to use a nipple should for Bub to latch. The only positions that work for me is the football hold and also me laying on my side and Bub laying towards my breast. Maybe try these two positions 🙃

Have you also tried the rugby ball method of feeding? I had to do this with mine. Hold the baby’s head to boob but the side of their body is by your side and feet are pointing towards your back.
