Baby struggling with wind

My 3 week old who is exclusively breast fed screams the house down at night. She brings her knees to her chest and there is a lot of grunting so we think it’s due to wind. No matter how long we try to wind her / do bicycle legs etc nothing seems to work. Anyone else has this experience?? Thank you!

Have you tried using some infacol?

It could also be possible that little one wants to be cuddled up against you in fetal position. 3 weeks is still newborn and a lot of them miss your smell, warmth and that coziness. If baby’s diapers are normal (urine and poop) it could be just that baby is still adjusting. Pooping, gas, digestion is all new and very uncomfortable for the little one, all their live they lastly spent it in a time where they didn’t have to feel hunger, gas, poop, etc, so it is new and night time is witching hour for them. If little one is pooping and peeing normal, it could just be environmental or the clothes can be itchy or uncomfortable too

Hi hi, I am really sorry you're going through this. I had my first one being extremely gassy and he would scream 24/7 actually and now have a 12 week old who is also pretty gassy and struggles especially at night like yours. Both of mine found different things helpful but just a few ideas: the colic hold, belly massage against wind, have baby in the carrier really tight and cosy, have baby in the swing, dummy, infacol, gripe water, warm bath, investing good time in burping after each feed if possible, holding baby upright a lot and investing in tummy time (upright helps the intestines moving gas through and tummy time encourages movement too). Sometimes nothing helps and baby cries for 1-2 or more hours so then we do the gaspasser which for both of our kids a simple rectal thermometer helped always. It's our last resort but actually often when they scream on end as soon as you put it in their bum they calm down already, grunt a bit and then pass gas and sometimes poop as well and everything is good.

My little boy struggles getting his wind up instead he farts it out

For that you should put the thermometer (or gas passer) in some Vaseline or petroleum jelly and put it very carefully in the bum while holding the legs up to their tummy. If nothing comes, be patient and move it around to sides or in circles very carefully. I have made the experience that if that makes baby agitated then nothing will come out so I stop it. My babies calm down during the procedure and then pass gas easily. But it might be different for you. Also what helps sometimesnis trying to put them to sleep for a little bit, even for 10-20 minutes and when they wake up try fo bicycle or any of the other things again and it might work at last

Our boy had infant dyschezia from 5ish weeks to about 15 weeks. Infacol, belly massage, bicycle kicks and his vibrating rocker chair did help, but he screamed out in his sleep trying to pass gas the whole 10 weeks 😅
