Formula/Breastmilk

Hey all! I have a 9 almost 10 months old just like most of us here, I think. I recently switched from exclusively breastfeeding to pumping and feeding through a straw cup. Since I started pumping, I’m only getting about 3 ounces each session (1.5 per side every 2 hours). So in total my girl is only getting maybe 15 ounces a day. I’m really considering switching to formula so we can up her intake. She eats 3 or 4 meals of solid food a day and plenty of water but I don’t know if all this is enough. She always seems to want more milk after she’s done with what she’s had. I am going to call her doctor tomorrow but wanted to see what other moms are doing. How much milk/formula is your baby having at once? How many times a day? Has anyone switched completely of milk/formula to only solid food and water yet? Any advice/input is appreciated 😊

Sorry I don’t have a lot of advice for you but my daughter gets about 5, 5oz bottles of breastmilk every day and she has 2 maybe 3 meals a day. I don’t give formula so I’m not totally sure how it works but maybe give her breastmilk and if she’s still hungry after follow up with formula? Best of luck! Hope this helps

Definitely talk to the doctor, but usually we want her getting at least 24oz per day of breastmilk and/or formula at this age. While you’re waiting on an answer, continue pumping and add a few bottles of formula to what you’re doing.

4 bottles of 8oz bottles here! Each baby is different but I agree with your gut in that this sounds a bit low. My first was underfed and I didn’t supplement with formula until I saw his weight drop below his percentile, ugh.

My baby is EBF and eats about 16-20 oz a day. My first girl ate about 24oz of milk a day and she was also EBF. If you’re worried maybe add a bottle of formula before bed.

According to the paediatrician visiting my little girl the amount she is getting from breastmilk is not the same as formula because breastmilk is more dense than formula and it needs a lower amount for the baby to get what it needs. They told me put priority on the food because food is what she’ll eat from 1. My baby wasn’t gaining any weight from milk anymore and I am doing combo feeding but she is now gaining weight when I increased the number of meals to 3 a day. She just has a preference on solids and is having only 16 oz milk a day and breastfeeds once at night. I was so worried but can’t do nothing, Is just her preference not liking milk anymore. Tried a few different formula plus breastmilk but is the same. And I’ve read that from 10-12 months they need only 400 ml of formula

My girl drinks between 25-30oz of breastmilk per day and eats 3 meals plus 2 snacks and sips of water at meal times. 16 oz sounds like it might not be enough.
