Breastfeeding fast let down!?

My baby is currently 5 weeks old and we got off to a rocky bf journey. I had to exclusively pump and bottle feed shortly after birth and now have supply issues too. We’re trying to reintroduce breastfeeding however sometimes my LO starts crying at the breast but when I compress there is still milk available (initially I was thinking it’s my low supply issue). Now I’m wondering if it’s a fast letdown. How do I know?

Check if your baby has a tongue tie. Mine did and it was undiagnosed until week 8. Just got it released and still working on breastfeeding but it’s much better than before.

Why would that cause crying?

I am able to squeeze the nipple and the milk shoots out in a spray, my LG also used to choke on it quite a bit. If it is fast let down you can express the spray into a muslin and/or feed leaning back slightly. Once they get a bit older it is easier for them to manage.

My let down is really fast and my LC told me to lean back while I feed and it slows it down. I also have the baby more vertical than horizontal and that helps him too.

Thanks for the wonderful advice
