Nappy change during feeds (nighttime)

Hi everyone, More looking for people’s opinions/suggestions! LO is 8 weeks, doesn’t sleep through night yet. But we are lucky that she goes down around 20:00/20:30 when she’s had clean clothes, nappy change, bottle, cuddles & sleep. We didn’t use to to change her nappy and then I started doing it on the first feed. No reason why. She has no nappy rash. But I’m wondering if I should leave it unless she seems uncomfortable to save distrusting her more before going back sleep. As if she slept through she wouldn’t be changed. What’s everyone’s routine roughy? Just nice to know 🩷

Our 9 week old only gets up once, so we do change it to avoid an earlier morning wake. But we do it quick and before any feeds so he is comforted again before back to bed

I only change during the night if baby does a poo or the nappy has leaked

What I do and highly recommend is, before she goes to sleep and before feeding you change her nappy but don’t use wipes. Actually rinse with warm water under the tap, then massage her back & before putting the nappy, apply heavy layer of zinc oxide cream (clinical diaper rash cream) & leave it till she poops or the diaper is full. If she wakes up to feed, change first then feed.

I usually change once in the night and it helps baby wake up every so slightly so he feeds more effectively. Also gets rid of a usually very heavy wet nappy which may get uncomfortable. Do what’s best for you!

I usually change mine before she goes down around 8ish, depending on when she last had a feed sometimes she will wake about 11 for another feed so I will do it then and she will then sleep until around 7am. If I don’t change it at 11 she looks a bit uncomfortable and fidgety around 4-5am but doesn’t stay awake for a feed so I just change her and give her a dummy. She has never had nappy rash either
