First bath

Any tips on how to do first bath? Baby is 1 week 2 days old and umbilical cord came off a few days ago and is dried out. He hates being naked so nappy changes are a challenge so was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to handle first bath and make it as smooth as possible ahaha

With my daughter I put a Muslin cloth under her bum and 1 over her belly chest part with warm water and only bathed her for about 2 mins x

I always wash her hair over the bath first while she’s got a towel wrapped round her then dry it then give her a quick bath x

make the bathroom super warm first! cover him in a warm washcloth during the bath, and have the towel warm and ready as soon as he’s all done

@Sarah we also did this x

We did warm water in the kitchen sink for our first bath. Small wash cloth, gentle soap, and a towel ready to go.

I have that Angelcare bath seat, I run the warm water and then soak two muslin cloths, put one on the seat, put baby in, but the other cloth over his belly and just talk to him. I take a pitcher and fill it with warm water and pour it over him and the cloth. And then his head. I actually let water pour a bit over his face when I do his head too so he gets used to it. He loves his baths and just chills out. He is also one who hates his diaper being changed

We used a baby bath with infant insert. Warm water and wet face cloth over the tummy and chest. Highly suggest against bathing in a sink. There is a huge chance of exposure to food borne bacteria no matter how well you clean. Also you don't need to use any soaps as they aren't moving around and getting into anything, just gently rub their creases with a washcloth.

I bathe with my 7 month old still and he thinks the tub is a water playpen. He still won’t let me bathe him on his own but it’s so sweet seeing him take baths with me or his father so we don’t mind. Plus we get to see him play with all his bath toys. When he was younger he fell asleep every time and it was some of the best bonding we had seeing him so relaxed and trusting in our arms like he was back in utero. He still falls asleep in the tub in my arms sometimes and it never gets old.
