Conjunctivitis

Has anyone else had to deal with this? I’ll be taking him to the doctors tomorrow and I’ve been cleaning his eyes with cooled boiled water on a cotton pad but is there anything else I can do too? Also how often should I wipe them? Every time there is build up?

My LB had this months ago on and off for a few months. My Dr said its really common in babies under 1, especially as they pick more things up/crawl as they get stuff on their hands and wipe their eyes. Our Dr gave us some drops to pop in a couple of times a day. We also cleaned with cooled boiled water and cotton pad, as and when build up occurred. Weirdly took him swimming a month ago and (touch wood) he's not had it since x

Yes, mine had conjunctivitis quite young - I think he was less than 3 months old at the time 🥺 keep bathing with cooled boiled water, as you have been. Making sure to use fresh pad for each eye to avoid cross contamination. Wipe as often as eye is getting gunky. Most conjunctivitis clears up on its own without medication within a few days. Avoid sharing towels with other family members and wash bedding daily while the eye is still producing gunk

I'd also really recommend tear duct massaging. My LO had crusty yellow eyes from birth and we had a few courses of antibiotics drops/creams in addition to cleaning with cooled boiled water. One eye cleared up after the very first treatment, but the other has only just cleared after about a month of massaging his tear ducts several times everyday x

Thanks all, I really appreciate the advice 💕. Been one thing after the other lately 😩 x

My GP told me to put a teaspoon of salt in the cool boiled water then after wiping away squeeze a bit in each eye (I used a clean cotton pad and dripped a little over the eye) it went away after a couple of days once I added the salt
