Breastfeeding struggles

So baby girl hit 4 weeks on Friday, my milk supply has been very low this entire time, I’m pumping, taking supplements but it isn’t keeping up with her 3oz formula she takes. I feel like such a bad mom because sometimes I think her stomach is growling (later I realized it’s a mixture of gas), as soon as she goes to the breast she immediately passes out……part of me wants to give up on breastfeeding because I feel like nothing is boosting my milk supply. I’m chugging water before feeds also drinking body armor. Any suggestions? I do want to keep trying but I’m losing hope that this is something I can do….😢😞

To boost ur supply try pumping after feedings. But u can also go exclusively to pumping or u can always switch to formula

Did you talk to a lactation consultant yet? They might have an idea For pumping I would suggest to check that your flang is the right size. Most are 24mm but most women aren’t. You can get inserts for $10 already. Made pumping so much more comfortable and effective for me And make sure to also eat enough. That got me like 3 oz more every time. And no, you’re not a bad mom if you’re not breastfeeding. Try what you want and can, but don’t feel bad if something isn’t working. You’re taking care of your baby and that’s what matters!

Don’t give up!! My milk took forever to come, but I didn’t give up and you shouldn’t either. Eat lots of corn and oatmeal. Drink mother’s milk tea. The liquid is important but you need to eat enough calories too. And rest, the most important is too rest. I felt so guilt taking a nap away from my baby at the beginning, but after finally taking the rest my body much needed, my milk came in. To increase the supply I immediately pump for 5 minutes after every feeding. My baby lost weight at the beginning and we had to supplement with formula, I would still offer my breast and finish with the formula so he wouldn’t need as much formula. You should also leave your baby “uncomfortable” during feeds. I usually leave my just in diapers, the skin to skin is good for your oxytocin levels and leaves the baby a little chill. I always have a blanket next to us for just in case. If I can’t take off his clothes, I usually take off his socks and tickle his feet.

And most importantly, you’re not a bad mom. And you wouldn’t be a bad mom if you need to switch to formula either. You’re doing what’s best for your baby and that’s what makes you a great mom

I tried all the things with my first and never produced enough, I combo fed and it worked out fine but I felt sad about it. Now I have my second and my supply is a little better but I’m still supplementing with about 2 bottles of formula a day (2oz each). Honestly, I don’t have the guilt this time and I think it’s nice to be able to have her be satisfied without nursing for an hour+ in the middle of the night or when I’m also caring for my 3 yo and I can’t nurse for extended periods of time (because she’s not getting enough). Just a different perspective that it can be helpful to supplement. Otherwise, I don’t have any better advice except that I’ve been taking legendairy liquid gold supplements and I feel that they help boost my supply. Good luck and please don’t beat yourself up. You’re doing amazing!!

I felt the same way with my first and now with my second. The truth is that some of us do not produce enough. Give her what you can and supplement with formula. I give my baby the boob and then formula right after or an hour later when she's hungry. I did the same with my first daughter for months. This bond is too special, and your breast milk is so good for the baby. Don't give up. You're not failing.

Thank you all for your suggestions, words of encouragement and positivity! 🥹🥹💗💗

things i do to help with my supply personally is drinking body armor, coconut milk/water, and pumping as much as i can, i personally pump the 30 min window my pump will run switching back and forth each breast instead of both at once.
