Feeding to sleep

My LO is almost 11 months and we have always fed to sleep (he’s breastfed) naps and night time and for night wakes as it just works and always has been the quickest way! Only other way he sleeps is in the car. I am happy feeding to sleep although worry I’m creating a problem and he will never be able to sleep without me (back to work soon and really worried) does anyone else feed to sleep still or has done in the past and they just were able to not need it one day? Don’t want to sleep train either just worried I’ve done the wrong thing x

I am in the same boat as you although with my husband he falls asleep without feeding (obviously). He has started nursery last week and they somehow managed to put him down for naps and I had a few occasions, where he was so sleepy, that he fell asleep on my lap (3 times maybe). I created a bedtime playlist with songs that he never hears during the day and that I will never get tired listening to and started using it while I get him ready for bed and while I feed him. I have been doing that for 2 weeks and he already goes down quicker and doesn't need to drink for 20 minutes and lots of rocking. He seems to just understand somehow. Other than that, I don't want to sleep train either and just hope that this is enough and he will grow out of it

I’m in the same boat, I went back to work last week (only away from her for one day and wfh the other days so it’s not an issue) my sister managed to get her to nap in her pushchair so even though she didn’t sleep as long as she usually does atleast she slept which honestly I thought she might not! I’ve tried really hard to get her to sleep other ways and it’s just not happening, occasionally she will be rocked to sleep if she’s really tired. I’ve tried to stop feeding to sleep but she just usually ends up so overtired she’s just inconsolable until I feed her. Anyway not that I have any helpful advice, just know you’re not alone!

Don’t worry that isn’t the case! I always feed to sleep but nursery get him to sleep without feeding him as he won’t take a bottle. He even crawled on me the other day and curled up and went to sleep 🥹my mum tends to take him for a walk in the buggy but I think she does that more for her. People find their own ways with them, don’t worry!

I’ve worried about this as well. Over the last week I’ve started removing him from the breast as soon as I see he is sleepy. I then put in on a pillow on my lap still awake. First night we sat like that for an hour before he eventually slept. He was so sleepy but kept trying to get up and pull my shirt. Second night took 5 minutes. I just need to figure out how to get from this point to sleeping in the bed without breast. I don’t want to sleep train either

Do not worry, no 10 year old will feed to sleep even if you forced them 😂 it won't last for ever and as long as you are comfortable just do what works.i have a almost 1 year old who has literally never fallen asleep without boob apart from the odd pram nap. If it works and you all get sleep keep doing it!

@Ellie this is such a good point! 😂 thank you for this xx

My baby girl is nearly 11 months I s always fed to sleep for naps and bedtimes and for the night wake ups, she only falls asleep independently kn the car 😭 I’m too scared to sleep train and I’m also back to work in Jan! I have no idea what I’m going g to do nobody else has ever got her to sleep and I’ve never wanted to try cos I’m worried she’ll work herself up and get sad cos she’s overtired 😭

@Rosie could have written this myself!! So hard to know what to do! X

It’s actually so difficult out and I have no idea what to do when I go back to work 😭😭
