Thanks for responding I posted this in the wrong group but appreciate the answer! My last baby weaned at 4.5 months for medical reasons so had to start with puree but he never did this he was a big eater immediately I did wonder if it's because this baby is breast milk fed. Tastes a lot nicer than formula!
Amelia is correct! From what I understand the texture of something thicker than milk is weird to them! Just keep trying and don’t push them to eat a large amount at first! Everything is so new they might just want a few bites at first
So, the pushing away is very normal. Until now, your baby didn’t know that what you eat was food that they could eat. My toddler still inspects anything I give him to eat and he’s 16 months. BLW may work but they are still learning to use their bodies so I wouldn’t get discouraged. Also even with purees, books I’ve read suggest offering at least 3 separate times.
All babies as far as I know will push the food back at first, do a but of gagging and face pulling. This isn't cos they aren't ready it's because they've never had anything but milk before so it's weird to them. That said for 10 days we tried puree and baby pushed away then I changed to trying tomatoe slices and she liked self feeding more
