Baby rejecting expressed milk from freezer / taste of breast milk?

Hi, my baby was occasionally given a bottle up to 2 months of age from de-frosted breast milk. We lost the bottle habit for a month as I was with him all the time so fed direct. Now at 3.5 months, he’s rejecting bottled milk - anyone know why? I tried a few drops to test it was warm enough before giving it to him and it tasted really gross - like watery vegetables… ?!? I thought breast milk was supposed to be sweet? Any advice welcome :)

You probably have high lipase, I do. It changes the taste of the milk when frozen. Google high lipase in breastmilk and how to store it frozen!

You can mix fresh with frozen (1:1 ratio) Or, once your child is 6+ months you can flavor with alcohol free vanilla!

I was told to not leave it longer than 3 days without giving a bottle so they don't reject it so although not helpful right now but helpful for once he is back into it 😅

Try with fresh milk, he may be refusing bottles altogether so you may need to re-introduce them. Then try mixing frozen with fresh to help with the lipase taste

Try pumping some fresh and see if he will take it.

Due to the way you're describing the taste it sounds like high lipase

Yes, I have the same problem. Its high lipase as previously mentioned. Very frustrating. There are ways to combat it though. Half and half with fresh milk or a drop of vanilla extract is all that can be done for stuff that's already frozen though.

Thank you all!
