Next to Me or Cot

My LG is 4.5 months and outgrown her Moses basket. We have a next to me but im just wondering if we skip that and go straight for the cot (I’m thinking the petite cot from M&P as we don’t have a huge amount of room). She will still be in our room until at least 1 year (I think). Has anyone else move to the cot at this age?

You can start in a cot, so you're fine moving straight to cot. But just be aware at some stage you'll be transitioning to a bed, therefore I found the cots that turn into toddler beds more worth the money

We did with our son. He grew out of his Moses basket around 4.5 months and we ended up moving him straight into his own room in the big cot and he was absolutely fine. This time round our lil gal is much bigger than our son was and so outgrew the Moses basket around 2 months 🙈 so she’s gone into a next 2 me where she’ll stay until we move her into her own room xx

We moved to the cot stage at 3.5 months as my LG liked to spread out when she sleeps, she sleeps adjacent to my bedside and I put the cot base on the upper level so she was still able to see everything and she hasn’t had a problem, highly recommend getting a cot that you can adjust the mattress level for and that you can eventually convert into a toddler bed as will save you money in the long term

My first was in a cot from 2 months and preferred it. My son is already outgrowing his next to me but we o have limited space in our room for a cot in this house. So we’re deciding whether to bring the cot in our room (cotbed so it’s huge) as he often knocks the side of his next to me and wakes himself up. Only things that’s stopping me is thaf I wanted to start doing naps in his own room about 5 months to start the transition to overnight after Christmas (7months) but likelihood is he’ll be in his cot in here shortly 😄
