Anyone with previous loss going for an early scan?

We had 2 chemical pregnancies after our first pregnancy which had no complications. I’ve been feeling anxious this time and just taking each day by day but wondering if anyone in a similar boat is planning an early scan, and if so when is a good time? Not sure I can wait 12 weeks to find out all is ok even if I know things could change between the private scan and the 12 wk one.

I've had two miscarriages, unfortunately I've had bleeding throughout the whole of this current pregnancy so have already had 3 nhs scans. They won't be giving me another until 12 weeks now so I think I'll have a private one in a couple of weeks just for peace of mind. Happy for you to message if you want to chat about it as I get how hard this waiting time can be x

So sorry to hear of your previous losses. How did you get the extra 3 scans? What weeks were they? I think I’m 6w1d. So have made it over a week longer than the last 2 losses as they were very early but they are logged on my medical record. I’m going to self refer tomorrow as I wanted to wait until 6 weeks before referring incase we were unlucky again this time

I apparently tested positive really early, literally bang on 3 weeks and was bleeding right from the positive. Was referred to EPU through my GP but they scanned me too early (4 weeks), they then arranged another scan the week after (again was too early) and then finally my scan last week finally showed a baby and heartbeat. No idea how I tested positive so early but given the constant bleeding they wanted to make sure things were progressing normally

I had my daughter 11 months ago and paid for loads of extra private scans with her as I had really high anxiety throughout. I just had a chemical pregnancy last cycle and now im pregnant again so even more anxious this time. Definitely gonna have as many scans as I can gonna have one at the 7 week mark (luckily I work in a private scan clinic now so can get scans free this time round), and maybe another one before the 12 week scan. Last pregnancy ihad one at 6 weeks then 8 weeks pregnant before my NHS scan x

My GP referred me for an early scan at 8 weeks when I asked, following previous losses at 23 and 6 weeks I just explained how I was worried after my history. I’d ask the GP and see if you can get one on the NHS before 12 weeks

@Emma thank you, I think I will try this. Was it your normal GP or after you get to your first midwife apt?

Just my normal GP I asked when I told them I’d had a positive test

I think you can just ring your local epau and explain, don’t think you need to go through the gp 😊

@Sophie I think most EPU's won't accept self referral unless you've had 3 miscarriages but doesn't hurt to call and ask

We have had 4 previous miscarriages and I cannot face an early scan this time around as I can’t bare the thought of not seeing a heart beat like the last 4 times. This time we have decided to just go with the flow. I have been put on progesterone from 4 weeks and so far no spotting! Currently at 8 weeks. We have decided to wait until our 13 week scan x

12 week not 13 lol x
