How long did you push?!

If you’ve had your baby, how long sis you push for? Every time I see that someone pushes for hours I get so freaking confused tbh. I pushed for 10 minutes both of my vaginal births. I just feel like if it’s hours, maybe they’re pushing too early??

For my first baby I pushed for 40 minutes. I also declined to practice push and just let my body do what it needed to. Your body will know what to do just follow its lead girly.

I pushed for like 20 mins .

Like 20m. I took my time and told the doctor who started screaming at me to push to shut up (politely). She was an asshole. Her response to this was 'you will push when I tell you to or I'n going to cut you [episotomy]'. When I said 'no thank you' she complained that 'we will be here for 4 hours' (because apparently she knew better than me). This was in 2nd best hospital in SD with great reviews. I had an induction which had taken 4 days (so 4 days of contractions), my experience of the staff was so bad that I was terrified (e.g. my nurse that day seemed high and the meds they gave me put me into shock) so I knew when I was having a good contraction and when it was going to fizzle out too soon. I knew exactly how to get my baby out, it was exactly like dealing with a very big poop when you're trying not to rip. He felt half way out anyway, and they didn't listen when I told them he was coming (despite knowing he'd need the NICU people there).

I pushed for 15 minutes

1 hour, most of the beginning pushes were practice. Then I finally said after 40 mins hey my body is going to be best in this position and he came out 20 mins later

Cont - I hated my birth, I pushed GENTLY for 20m and only the very last push was bad (I felt like my clit ripped through the middle)

By the way, in US and some other countries, they do not understand that you need a break between passive and active labor. They ARE pushing too early before they're ready because the doctors are ordering them to push and using scare tactics. I thankfully knew this before I gave birth and knew this was linked to more organ damage, long-term issues, sexual dysfunction and prolapse issues. People DO need to be 'scaring' pregnant women because the women need to know how to push, instead of thinking doctors and nurses are going to help them. My experience was that the doctors and nurses have distain for birthing women and no patience. Do not trust them, trust your own body only.

@Stephanie I’m so sorry you hated your birth experience! That absolutely sounds like something I would be angry about as well. I totally agree they tell women to push too early. They see a 10 cm and say it’s time when it actually really isn’t! I was actually lucky with both my births that I was the one to say hey, I need to push, I feel like I need to push.. and got the baby out in 10-15 minutes. But it isn’t all based on dilation. The mama needs to know when too.

About 15 min! FTM

First baby was like 3 hours, i was exhausted after a 40 hour labour and my son had his arm under his chin so wasnt cooperating, 2nd baby was 3 pushes.

With my first, just under 30 mins. This time my husband said it was under 20 mins and that was with the practice pushes. Didn’t seem like long at all.

My son's head was stuck in my pelvis, so after pushing for a period of time (maybe 30 minutes?), the nurses had me using the peanut ball in a few different positions for a few hours. It didn't help much, but my OB had me try pushing again, maybe for another 30ish minutes. He told me I was pushing really well, but my baby wasn't moving. A vacuum was used, combined with my pushing to finally get him out, and that was maybe for 10? minutes. I wonder if people include from the time they start pushing, to the time they give birth?

i pushed my daughter out in 5 min, i’m very grateful🙏

I don’t push til I feel I’m about to poop myself 🤣😭😭 So far so good. 3 births no stitches afterwards

@Kay yes! That’s exactly how I knew when to 🤣
