How many times does your baby or should a bf'd baby have a feed? How long do you go between feeds? TIA

He feeds every 1-2 hours most of the time. He feeds to sleep for naps though so that is probably one of the reasons why he doesn’t last long between feeds. I think it’s normal for them to go anywhere between 1-4 hours in between feeds.

In the day My son usually goes 2 hours but very occasionally will go 3 to 4 hours between feeds. At night time he rarely wakes up for a feed and if he does it’s around 2:30am after a feed at about 9/10pm depending when he’s fallen asleep. But most of the time he will sleep through until 5 or 6am before he wakes up and has a feed.

Every 2-4 hours in day sometimes more and once or twice In The night

Were the same as @Lucy

Every 1.5-2 hours. Sometimes she's gone 3 hours during the day if she's had a long nap

Mine feeds every 2 to 3 sometimes 4h. But it totally depends on the huls and if they sick or having leap the feeding change 🙂

I think it’s every 2-3 hours but I don’t track it, just feed on demand. I think the minimum is supposed to be 8 feeds in 24 hours but it’s normal for BF babies to feed much more than that!

Thanks for your replies ladies, I just think my LO is feeding less than he should. He wakes up around 9:30 and goes sleep at 8:30/9 last feed is at 8:30 in the day he'll feed every 2-4 hours. So in total including the nighttime feed, he'll have 4-6 feeds Is that enough especially if it's on the lower end?

If you’re concerned speak to your health visitor and ask for the feeding team. They can then assess things like babies weight etc and see if it’s just normal for your baby or if you need to supplement. I personally would say that 4 feeds isn’t enough but I don’t know your baby x

Hi there! I am a breastfeeding counsellor. Generally speaking we would expect at 4 months, baby to be having 8-12 feeds in 24 hours. Some babies will feed less (some more) and as long as there are no growth concerns, that can be fine. But if you are concerned about his weight gain then it would definitely be a good idea to try and offer another feed or two.
