Where in the US are you going? We are getting better as a whole, but there are still some places that you will get a lot of dirty looks and possibly asked to cover up. Also, depending on where you are going in December, it'll be absolutely freezing, so you may want to have something to cover things just because of that.

I just use a blanket.
So what I'd do just because a lot of the South is weird about breastfeeding is have a thinner blanket just in case people are weird. I generally just used the same blanket that she napped with, so it wasn't a big deal to carry it around. A lot of people are cool with breastfeeding and won't say anything, but it's much more likely that you'll get men staring at you, so I always covered in public because of that. Especially with a winter cruise, a lot of older people go on those, and those are the kind of people who are usually gross
I never use a cover. There’s already so many things to juggle - personal belongings, my clothes, milk leaking, the sun, discreet body position in an area a bit out of the way, etc
It’s legal to breastfeed wherever you are in all 50 states. Some people may still have something to say, but I’d just ignore them (or get snarky) instead of covering up my baby in a blanket in the Florida heat 🥵
I live in the USA, and have breastfed both covered and uncovered. I’ve gotten encouragement sometimes and ugly faces other times. Do what makes you comfortable❤️If you feel pressured or nervous many places have mother’s rooms available
All over southeast Asia and the most I had was a muslin. baby would swat anything that covered his head so it just ended up being rather useless and revealed more with the cover than without.
In Miami, boobs will be out on people not breastfeeding lol. Do you! Have fun - its such a vibrant city!
Honestly don’t worry about what other people think, your boobs are to feed your baby and that’s all. If someone doesn’t like it that’s their problem
