Eating on the Floor

Do any of you guys find your LO eats better when sitting on the floor? My LO doesn't eat much when she is in the high chair but will eat really well if she's sitting on the floor. Should I consider getting a new high chair? One with better foot support?

Could be more of a sensory thing than a support thing. Growing.intuitive.eaters on instagram (board certified pediatric registered dietitian) has covered this a bit! Highly recommend following her regardless

@Claire thank you! I didn't even think of this! She is a very sensory-motivated kid. I also find she likes to move and eat rather than sit and eat. Too many things to do!

Allowing her to do this is great for her independence :) you can try a small weaning table instead so she still has the option to sit or move around as she pleases. It might help her build a more positive association with eating, rather than being restrained in a high chair.

@Aggs she's still only a crawler and hasn't yet mastered pulling to stand but I will definitely try this when she gets going!

@Christine definitely definitely check out that instagram then!! She has adhd herself and lots of sensory motivated kids - she provides lots of good advice! As long as your child is safe eating in the floor, there is no reason to make them sit elsewhere
