Toniebox or Yotobox?

Ooo following as I want to get one for my daughter as a Christmas gift

We have a tonies box and my little girl Loves it!

The Yoto just arrived today! Still getting to grips with it. He keeps pulling the cards out, which I expected. It has loads of other functions not just stories and seems to have longevity past the Tonie. Both seem great from reviews but the Yoto swayed me!

Tonie box all the way! My daughter is 18months and knows how to use the box from forwarding to playing the next song/story. It’s very easy to use for them and my daughter enjoys taking on and off the toys to hear different music/ stories in her own time.

I've had the Yoto for years and highly rate it. You can use the larger one as a nightlight and a clock. You can pick 2 colours so they wait for the colour to change before they get up (sometimes wishful thinking 😆 but great for when they can't read a clock yet). The stories are on cards and my daughter loves browsing through them to pick a story. You can play all your stories via the app which doubles up as another Yoto player when you're out and about as it stores all your cards in an online library. You can buy blank cards to make your own stories. I record some of her favourite stories via the app and add the playlist onto a card for her to listen to. Also fun for them to create on their own. I also use the blank cards to load stories I create using ChatGPT with my daughter as the main character going on adventures. You have the ability to override a story via your phone too if they change their mind or you can turn on the night radio to play sleep music all night instead. It's awesome! Hope that helps

@sophie & @Gem was there a specific reason why you went for the Tonie box?

@Charlotte creating stories yourself sounds amazing! My family is from Germany, so they could record some stories in German for him :) I love that and didn't know about that!

@Selina , i think we chose the tonie box as it had the figures rather than the card that could be bent or ripped at this age. Also i had a look at what stories or songs were on the figures and they seemed more suitable to what my daughter likes/would like. I've heard more about Tonie boxes than i have about Yoto. A few family members have the tonie box for children of different ages and they all highly recommend it and they've shown me how it works and what its like etc You get a blank tonie figure with the tonie box which you can record your own story/ song or message and save it to the tonie and then it plays through the figure. Also my daughter already has a card reader with cards that tell her different objects, colours and sounds and sometimes they can be bent or she finds it a little difficult to work out how to slot the cards in. x

@sophie Can you make the tonie box play without the figures? I'm wanting something we can take in the car, but I imagine the figures will fall off if it's rolling around in the back of the car.

im not too sure @Jasmine , i think you may need the figures for the story and songs to play through the box? ive not opened it yet though x

Yoto has been a game changer for us. Absolutely love it. And the cards aren’t bendy or breakable. I wanted a player she could use for years and years and I decided the Tonie would seem a bit young fast for her. There’s more yoto cards available than there are tonies, as well as loads of different radio stations and podcasts. It’s definitely going to age well with her.
