Boob preference??

So my baby is now 2 days old. She feeds really well, I’m so proud of us. She wakes up every 3ish hours for a feed that lasts anywhere from 10-40 mins. The only thing is she seems to struggle to latch on my left boob so I always end up giving her the right one. But I just got a ??blood blister?? on it I think. Just a tiny little dark red lump right on the nipple. I’m now worried I won’t be able to feed her next time bc god it hurt a lot and she can’t seem to work with the left boob. So what can I do to encourage her to work with the left or to help the right heal/feel better quickly? And does anyone know why she might not be able to get on with the left?

Just keep trying with the left. But she may have some tension from being born. My first had issues with one side because she had a forceps delivery and one side of her face was bruised so she didn't like turning that way and by the time it had healed it became a preference.

It would be worth ringing your midwife in the morning and asking what infant feeding support is available in your area. There could be all sorts of reasons they are struggling with the left, so seeing someone in the next few days would be really useful and will save your right nipple! X

Keep trying with the left but also try nipple cream and silver cups on you right. Also a haakaa with Epsom salts really helps with those blisters but what helps the most is to still try and breastfeed through it even though it hurts. They’re called nipple blebs and they are horrible 😩

Try doing a cradle to football hold. Sometimes babies just prefer to lay on a specific side when they feed. I also recommend using a shield for that blistering until it heals
