Baby is lazy??

Hi so my daughter started taking steps on her own this month. I’ve witnessed her the other day standing up in the middle of the room taking a few steps sitting back down standing up taking more steps sitting etc. However the past 2 days she has wanted nothing to do with standing on her own or taking steps. Is this typical for a baby? She is 16 months. I’d expect her to want to master it but she just has no interest.

Every baby learns at a different pace, it sounds like she’s just really starting to learn to trust herself with her movements. My daughter was the same when she learned how to walk. Once she understands she’s learned it, she’ll trust herself and get more consistent.

Sometimes it takes a few weeks or longer to consolidate learning. I’d give her some time - it’s not laziness

As mentioned above, a baby cannot be lazy. This all sounds developmentally normal. Let her take the lead

Thank you, people always said she was lazy. I never understood that term being used for a baby either. I agree with everything you all said. I just wanted to make sure it was normal. Some ppl I talked to said that she should be more motivated to master it so it made me worry. She also broke her leg when she turned 14 months while going down her slide and was in a cast for a month so I think it could just be that she is hesitant to get hurt again as well. Thanks for all the feedback!
