Hi moms!

Anyone who has been told they are gonna have a girl but ended up a boy? In 20w scan this week, sonographer told us ‘I think it is a girl’ but she didn’t sound very confident. Scan picture is below. Your comments appreciated 🌸

Someone at work was told boy she had a girl yesterday 😬

@Rabina yes exactly! Opposite is quite possible as well 😂

@Tugce I re-asked as I had an extra scan but because legs were closed and wouldn’t move they couldn’t check, I’m due another scan next month so I’ll ask again to see if they can check 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ after I was told about my colleague this morning I’m even more on edge 🤣 my family and friends have already started shopping 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was told boy at 16weeks at 20week they said girl we were like really?! Then they said oh yeah this could be a willy 😂 28week growth scan legs were crossed so who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️ this baby wants an element of surprise like we had with their brother! Hopefully you can get confirmation at a later scan if not surprises are fun 😊

I got told "most likely a girl" but I got it confirmed later it definitely was a girl and now she's 7 months old. most of the time they say girl, it is likely a girl. I suggest either getting a private scan or asking them to check again next time if you have another. make sure they show you how they know so you can actually tell yourself lol

Two of my friends got told girls and they had boys! X

I've known of a few people that it's happened to. But at the 20-week anatomy scan, they will never ever tell you for absolute that it's a boy or a girl. It's not a gender scan and they don't want any responsibility for getting it wrong.

I've been told I'm having a girl and been told at 3 scans (classed as high risk so found out at 16/18/20wk) started getting rid of all my sons things I've kept until my stepdaughters told me last week her baby brother should have been a sister. After speaking to her mum she was right apparently he his it well. Now I'm worried I've got rid of all my boy things and started buying girl things.. I'm 28wks and had LO at 32wk. I guess it's not common but there is always a chance it not being a girl.. maybe a bit difficult to say a girl is a boy.

I had a private scan before 20 weeks. When I had my 20 week scan they said they couldn't see anything that could mean they weren't a girl. The NHS scan they basically look for a penis or not.

One of my friends was told at 20 weeks scan girl. Then 32 week scan it was a boy

@Helen what did they say in private scan you had before 20w?

@Sam I can’t see any other scan in the calendar (the file NHS gave) they do another regular scan in 32w or was this for a particular situation?

@Tugce they look for a penis or vagina and then they looked for the pelvic bone which developed different depending on if they're a girl or a boy.

I mean did your private scan and NHS scan say the same thing about the gender? Boy or girl?

@Tugce most trusts only offer 12 and 20 weeks. Ppl with higher risk pregnancies get more. I've got 32 ,36 and 39 weeks for growth scans . I had great pregnancy with my first but complications at birth . Now my bmi is higher than it was wirh my first .
