When can you go in for reduced movements?

So this is my second pregnancy so I get I’m early on and no pattern can be established (19+2) however I’ve felt baby move from 17 weeks and they are incredibly active, I feel them a lot during the day and the evening. I haven’t felt any movement since last night but when I rang FAU/Triage she said I’m too early and even if something was wrong they wouldn’t do anything as baby isn’t viable which I totally get but unsure what to do then? Do I just wait until my 20 week scan in 8 days?

That’s such a hurtful thing to say. At my hospital we have an Early pregnancy unit and if we’re before 20 weeks and we think something is wrong then we go there. After 20 weeks then it’s triage. I’m sure most hospitals have a set up like this so maybe look into it at your hospital. If not then personally I’d ring back and ask to speak to someone else. I get that movements aren’t in a pattern for you yet but it’s so much better to get checked out just to be on the safe side. Have a lie down and drink something sugary and cold and it may get baby moving x

That’s crazy she said that! I went in around 18 weeks and they Dopplered me for reassurance! It’s most likely fine but if you haven’t baby move and you normally do that’s reduced movements! Deffo call back and tell them you have reduced movements haven’t felt them when you normally do and you need reassurance!

yeah what them 2 ^ said. its your baby in your body, you can tell if something is wrong better than they can. they have to listen to you. I'd say call the non emergency number and tell them what happened and that triage isn't helping. they have to listen.

That’s absolutely insane.. can you go to an urgent care of some sort and get a heartbeat check for reassurance?

I would 100% ring them back and tell them you want a Doppler done to check baby, it’s ridiculous for her to have said any of that. I went in before 20w as her movements had changed she’s had the same patterned since 18 weeks x

They can’t do anything but you can go in to get heartbeat checked to give you peace of mind.

I had a midwife come to my house and used a doppler around 19 weeks so I can't believe they've said to you!

Whilst that is true that is a horrible thing to say really. I did go in before they can put me on the monitor and they checked with Doppler. X

Ugh so TYPICAL of MAU staff, honestly, I had several horrible comments. Call up again, request to speak to someone else. Some of these staff are a joke. Remember this is your baby and your body, if something feels off then they can’t tell you everything is fine over the phone. Please please don’t let that comment put you off calling. They can use the Doppler at this stage to check baby’s heartbeat xx

I had a lot of scares like this. Would usually have some orange juice and lay still for a couple of hours. As they might not move much when you move around. Also in different positions movement would feel differently. So if nothing happens after few hours I would also insist on a monitoring. It's not true that they cannot do anything.

I called at 25 weeks and they told me the baby doesn’t have a movement pattern until 26 and wouldn’t see me x
