Transition to one nap

Has anyone’s little ones transitioned to one nap yet? How and when did you know they were ready? How did you do the transition?

We transitioned about a month ago, we found with her wake windows increasing to about 4+ hours there wasn’t enough time in the day for 2 naps, and she was fighting her second nap like crazy 90% of the time. She now wakes at 8, has her nap from around 11.30/12ish for 2-3hrs :) and bedtime around 7/8

Yeah we transitioned around 11 months, loads of night wakes and fighting his second nap! He now usually naps 12-2 wakes around 7 bed around 7:30 :) sometimes he has 2 naps if we are travelling somewhere in the car but at home it’s 1 :) xx

Yeah my boys wake windows also were long (4+ hours) and he was going to bed sometimes at 9:30pm which was ridiculous for us! So now he does 7am wake, nap 11:30-1:30ish bedtime at 6:30/7pm It was a few weeks of some 1 nap days and some 2 nap days, until eventually he is doing mainly 1 nap days now (unless he wakes up before 6am)

@Abbie does she go to nursery? I drop George off at nursery at 8 so he’d need to sleep in until 7 latest. I think my main concern is he didn’t fighting naps but first has only been 35 minutes since about Tuesday and second about an hour. Wake windows are about 3 hours 30/3 hours 45/4 and 4 hours 10. Just don’t think he’s ready for much longer in the morning it’s a real tough one

How old is your little one? Mine is 13 months and some days I think he’s ready for one but others I think he’s still too young, but he wakes up so much in the night and up at 6am for the day! I wonder if one nap would help? Xx

@Amber yes but only 1 day a week, her dad drops her off at 9 before he starts work. It was starting nursery that gave us the final kick to do 1 nap. She would only nap once there because there’s just so much going on, and we found she was coping fine with it

We had a phase of the second nap being at 4.30/5pm and then she wouldn't go to bed until 9pm or even later, but she would be way too tired and grumpy to not have that second nap even though it was late. So we just had to ride it out and now she's naturally just transitioned to one nap and back to going to bed 7.30/8. Now when she seems tired later afternoon, even if I try to put her down for a nap, she doesn't sleep but she seems to benefit from the quiet downtime and then behaves as though she's just had a sleep 😂
