I breast fed my oldest to 13 months when I got an infection that could cross the blood barrier so there was a risk of passing it through my milk. My second I nursed to 2 years. The last couple months I had him dropping feeds till it was only once a day and then after his birthday I cut him off completely. I've been fortunate that both of those children weaned easily. Fingers crossed my youngest does as well when the time comes. I'll aim for 2 years and see how it goes. But if you've made it a year you should feel good about that. You shouldn't feel bad at all if you feel like it's time to stop.
With my first (now 3 yrs old), he stopped by himself just before 11 months old. He reduced it to 1x very small feed every 24 hrs for a few weeks and then just stopped.
My daughter also stopped herself just before her 1st birthday. I had planned for a year and will do the same for my son who is currently 3 months. Breastfeeding is a full time job. So i knew I want to be able to have some freedom back after a year when I would start looking at going back to work
I just stopped recently at 17m and I wish I could’ve stopped definitively before 12months
This used to be my question. my baby is about 12months and we still do it. We found out he has dairy allergy so I just continue it and wait for him to stop. lets see.
Baby led weaning is easier on our hormones so I am going to try and keep going until my baby decides to stop. She is 7 months and I work full time so pumping is a huge pain but I want to try and go as long as possible.
I just did 12months still going and yeah it's hard. I wish I could lose weight while breastfeeding. But my son doesn't look like he wants to give it up
