Down’s syndrome

Hey guys I’ve just been for a fetal medicine scan and they’ve told me l there’s a high chance baby has downs I’m already 29 weeks pregnant and this has not been mentioned before … I just really don’t know how to feel about the whole situation they gave me ‘ options ‘ I could take if he is but I just feel so lost x

I’m sorry your going through this, I believe it’s a really personal choice only you and your partner (if you have a partner can make) if I were you I’d do lots of research and try to process the information maybe reach out to some support groups and talk to some mamas in same situation Big hugs x

How on earth has it got to 29 weeks before being mentioned? Did they not spot anything at your 12 week scan or blood tests? We had a higher chance result from out quad blood tests, we then had further testing at 16 weeks which thankfully came back clear. Have you had an amniocentesis or NIPT yet to confirm? Definitely try not to panic unless you have had one of these tests done x

My 12 week bloods came back 1 in 5000 so very good and I have been having scans every two weeks for a separate issue they have found … it’s just so upsetting that they’ve just now told me all of this and I have absolutely no idea what to do I’ve just had the nipt test and am currently waiting on results x

Like surely if you saw my baby on a scan once every two weeks they would have spotted it by now

Really feel for you ♥️ we had a downs scare after our 12 week scan and it absolutely broke us. Our baby is perfectly healthy and it was a false alarm but I can completely empathise with how you must be feeling. We had a week of constant crying and I found it really hard to be excited about things immediately after that because of having to go through these awful thought processes in your head. When we were waiting to find out, I felt very much like people would have opinions on what to do if they knew it was downs so we kept that to ourselves and just told people it was a health scare rather than giving specifics. Others opinions is the last thing you need. Really hope everything is ok for you and you don’t have to face that decision xx

We also had a Down syndrome scare. Had further testing and he doesn’t have it. What I would say is don’t panic! Do you research. If they do have Down syndrome, although it can be challenging, they are usually very happy and very loving! 🥰 this is what I was told through my research.

It still doesn’t mean he is! Xxx

I’m surprised this has only just been mentioned to you! A friend of mine was told her son would have this but he came out not having it! I also think it’s one of those things that sounds scarier than it is. So many parents who have babies with unexpected situations often find that they were petrified before and when it’s come to it, everything’s been much easier than they thought. I’m sure there would be some support groups for this that may be able to help you navigate how to work with this. Sending you all the love though because I’m sure it sounds a shock when not expecting it! Xx

Hey guys !! My nipt test came back as very unlikely for our little boy to have it 🥹🥹🥹 I feel so emotional about the whole thing x

I’m really pleased for you 🥰 I’m glad you got the result you wanted - now you can breathe and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!!
