Mum guilt- baby almost fell

Super guilty and cannot sleep after split second where I turned and my almost 6m old who isn't crawling almost fell off the bed head between bed and wall and legs hanging like a wet fish no screams or cry but she was content and happy smiling as soon as I picked her up. But she got startled and scared as I was shouting and upset so began to cry and immediately soothed herself calmed down and played again. How do I get rid of this horrible feeling of mum guilt? Been watching her like a hawk since... and not slept much...

Honestly, as soon as babies start moving, you need eyes in every part of your body, and it's just not possible. They're going to fall. They're going to attempt to get into anywhere they can and get stuck. It's just a normal part of learning to move and exploration. She wasn't hurt. it seems like she was just chilling waiting until you noticed. There's nothing to feel guilty about.

The amount of times I've had to drive on top of my little girl coz she's half off the bed is mental. She has a think of trying to get onto the floor by sliding off the bed. She's hit her head a couple of times too. She thinks it's the best game but that heart stopping feeling you get and the guilt that follows is immense. I find comfort in the fact that babies bounce and only react if you do. She'll keep rolling around and getting herself stuck everywhere and hit herself. It's a learning thing and they'll quickly get used to a new bruise they've given themselves

Thank you both, felt much better she giggled straight after. And yes have to get used to this new normal now.

Mine nearly fell off the bed, she was dangling by her waist on the side of the next to me crib. Scared the life out of me. She wasn’t bothered. Spoke to a friend who said hers had fallen out of bed twice! 🫢 It’s really easily done. Don’t beat yourself up about it and just learn for the future.

@Faye thank you hope you're Ok
