How do you stop breastfeeding????

That’s it, that’s the post 😂 My son is 15 months and it doesn’t seem like he is ever going to self ween 😩 he hates any other milk I try to give him, never used a bottle or a paci, he does drink out of a straw cup. Send tips.

Bandages over both nippies is the only way I got my 2 yo to stop.

My daughter stopped at 17 months. We slowly dropped feeds. Disassociated BF with falling asleep. Would say my milk is finished if she asked at the “wrong” time and offer up a snack / milk / water instead. Also lots of play distractions

Children self wean between the age of 2.5 and 7. If you are waiting for self weaning, you'll be waiting a long time. Most people do gentle parent led weaning but it's recommend to wait til 18 months

I’m trying to imagine my 3rd grader still breastfeeding that is fucking disturbing. So glad I never breastfed and didn’t have to deal with these issues.

Frozen cabbage method

The only way it worked for me is cold turkey which isn’t for everyone. We were down to just nursing to sleep and I basically told him there’s no more Boobie and I’ll lay next to you while you sleep. The first few nights were terrible but after about a week he got into a new routine and everything is fine now. Still tries to get the Boobie 🤣

@Cheyenne good for you? 😂

We also Went cold turkey at 21 months. I tried many many ways to gradually wean and nothing worked

@Cheyenne why is your comment necessary on a post asking for advice from BREASTFEEDING moms??

I feel like we went backwards 😩 I had weaned mine off from daytime feeding and feeding to sleep to just overnight when she’d wake up. Now, we’re back to feeding to sleep even for nap time. She literally tries to pull my boobs out throughout the day. Even if we just ate! I know she’s eating enough and she has water at all times. She gets whole milk too. I don’t know what to do and how to get her to fully wean. I know it’s going to be hell if I just take them away.

@Roxanne that’s what I was wondering . What a pointless, comment that isn’t helpful to anyone at all.

We did it 1 at a time (massively slow process) My LO was a complete boobie monster! We dropped all the day time ones, then night ones, then breakfast one and finally the bedtime one!

@Sierra I felt like I was doing good and then he got sick and he’s on the boob all the time again especially for sleep

@Rema I literally can’t handle the screaming at night.

Thanks for the positive feedback! @everyone I just feel bad for trying to take the baby off if he isn’t ready, but I literally am over the night time wakes for the boob.

@Cheyenne if you never breastfed a child you’ll never understand the connection between a mother and her child who she breastfed. Your negative comment was unnecessary. God bless.

@Tamara J I had up his solids by a lot to get to the point where he was calmer at night. How is your baby eating in the day? Are they teething? Mine will still wake up screaming and crying at night from teething from time to time.

@Rema we co slept so he was literally on the boob all night, but now I’m transitioning to his own room. So when he wakes after about 4/5 hours he will just yell until he gets the boob 😂 if he is in the bed with me he will sleep all night and won’t even bother me lol he eats super well 3 balanced meals and snacks but I don’t mind breastfeeding on demand during the day. I’m really trying to stop the feeding to sleep and during nighttime wakes. he is teething two teeth so that make sense why he got super clingy.

@Tamara J we first dropped our nighttime feeds because my daughter only settled with milk in the night. What helped us was my partner going in and settling her. It took a lot of time, but after a few weeks, I could settle her without milk. I think it was around 15 months for us too X
