Milk supply

My baby has been going through the 4 month regression, waking up and eating every 3 hours at night, in the day time he takes short naps and eats about every 3 hours, hes so clingy lately and starting to teeth: I haven’t not been pumping because I’ve been EBF him and now I’m worried that maybe my supply is low that’s why he’s eating so often? What can I do? Please help

Can it be that he wants to breastfeed for comfort and not hunger?

I wouldn’t worry about your supply . By eating frequently your baby is queuing your body to produce more milk. If you were pumping and needed to get your supply up you would “power pump” its the same concept (pumping more frequently to increase supply). When my son is cutting a new tooth he tends to want to nurse often as well. I think it comforts him and I think I read somewhere that it can relieve teething pain (don’t hold me to that part, I read a lot in the middle of the night lol)

Girl, I worried about the same thing at that stage. He was just comfort nursing most of the time. I am also EBF, I’ve pumped 6 times total on my life and it’s usually just to make milk popsicles or baby cereal. My son was doing the exact same thing you son is, to a T. Around 4 months, baby’s melatonin stores from pregnancy run out and they’re not quite making their own yet leading to major sleep disturbances. I had a very hard time getting him to bed between 4-5 months. Now at 6 months he sleeps like a dream again and eats with no issues. If you’re worried about your supply, add in 1 or 2 pumping sessions a day, even if it’s just 10 minutes right after he nurses. You’ll also get lots of that good, fatty hindmilk if you pump right after he nurses. Hope this helps!
