How many pumps do you have?

I have a single breast electric pump and a Haakaa. I am put off expressing because my baby feeds so much so I wonder if there will be anything left but also washing all the pieces of the pump after each use is just time consuming as I also have another child. Do you manage by having multiple pumps or should I just get on with it?

Why dont you just get more cups/ whatever part your regularly washing and have a collapsible bucket of hot soapy water to soak used ones in till your “pump wash cycle” (second thread ive mentioned a bucket on promise im not a bucket pr person i just love mine makes it so much easier 🤣) much quicker to wash when theyve been soaked / kept wet than when milk dries in them, ruined a few diaphragms before I realised this!

Is there a reason you're pumping?

Maybe you just don’t need to pump. My baby is EBF and I have pumped a few times just to get some stuff in the freezer for when I go back to work. The parts are very annoying to clean lol but might not be necessary!

I have a wearable pump with 3 sets of cups. It has saved my sanity completely.

@Kirsten I am currently combi feeding with formula. I want baby to have only breast milk so need to express much more than I'm making in order to replace the formula and ensure he's full. Hopefully the more I pump, the more milk I'll make them once I build up a stash we can stop the formula. Also, I feel like the formula makes him snuffly.

If there's no latching problem, the best thing for supply is attaching baby directly.

@Kirsten yes, perhaps there is. I saw a specialist a couple of weeks ago and she was helpful but I'm still having the same issue with him not being full enough on every feed which is frustrating. At least if I have more milk to feed him with a bottle I can top him up that way instead of with formula. It's been such an emotional journey

What makes you think he's not full enough? Over time, they take the same volume from us. The milk changes to accommodate and provide them more calories for the same volume.

My lactation consultant said that you only have to wash your pumps once a day! Other than that you can throw them in the fridge!

I have - x2 electric wearable pumps - a Haakaa collector - a manual pump (my backup) I pretty much exclusively pump now with the odd breast feed as a snack if he’s out of his usual routine. washing & sterilising hack - Sterilise only once a day. - use the fridge method. If you store your washable parts in the fridge, you don’t have to wash each time. Game changer for pumping through the night. I wash about every 3 pumps & store in the fridge. This is feeding consultant approved (🇬🇧) If you’re feeding & pumping be aware of creating an oversupply. Your breasts are a supply & demand kinda deal. The more you feed/pump the more milk your breasts will create. I also had to combi feed with formula when my supply dropped after being poorly & my son was on a feeding tube at birth. Dm me if you want to chat, I’ve been on a whole journey with pumping, feeding, vaspospasms, mastitis, engorgement, milk supply - feel like a pro now 🤣 lactation consultant gave me a gold star 🌟

Also I have a whole kit setup for getting out and about so I’m not tied to the house when it comes to pumping.

I have 1 electric wall pump. 3 different wearables. 1 manual and a few haakaas. I mostly use the haakaas I’ve got like 4 cause I got like 200oz in a month. (I’m an oversupplier) so when she starts increasing her feeds I use the haakaas to get relief on the other side. I put the haakaas in the fridge if I can’t find a clean one. And I wash them at night. I bought a counter dishwasher for bottles and pump parts with my first. I don’t really sterilize like boiling anymore
