Not enough!

I keep on finding myself supplementing my baby with breast milk or formula throughout the day 😭😭😭 I keep on trying to pump every time I get her on a bottle so my body knows to make milk, but when she's on my breast it seems like it is not enough! She's on my breast for longer than 20 minutes each. It used to be enough at 3 weeks old, but now at 5? How can I fix this?! I want to keep her feeding her off my chest without the bottle 🥲

Have you seen a lactation consultant? They would probably be the best for answering your specific questions

I've had my son on the breast for long periods of time, but I discovered that after 25-30 minutes, he's just using me as a binky. If you haven't, I'd recommend checking during a feeding to see if you can tell whether milk is still coming out.

@Madeleine I have, but the time she makes the appointments I'm full and baby is hungry so we do great....

@Mei milk does come out, I check because I also feel she is using me as a binky 🤣

@Maly Darn! I hope you are able to figure out a solution soon!

You could try power pumping, you won’t see an immediate difference but it stimulates a growth spurt. It’s 20 minutes pumping, 10 minutes off the, 10 minutes on again, then 10 minutes off, then 10 minutes on again. And also try not to let her feed on your breast for so long, try to get her to eat in shorter intervals

@Sarenna thank you, I'll give this a try. Try to let her eat in smaller intervals, how do I go about when she keeps on crying for more? My ears cringe at her cries and I just cant

have you hand expressed before you put her on? That’ll help your let down get started so she won’t have to work as hard. But im the same way, I can’t let my girl cry either. So that might not work this is just a suggestion because obviously you know your baby best but my girl did something similar a few weeks ago, is it possible she’s just tired? And is she starting to spit up more? Sometimes hunger cues can look like sleepy cues. And if you’re over feeding her she’ll be spiting up more than before. I found myself giving her extra milk like you are doing but it didn’t help, after I realized I’d give her the normal amount then rock her to sleep. Feeding is comforting and so if you offer milk she might just be eating out it out of habit. I’d feed her for the normal 20 minutes then try to get her to fall asleep by rocking with a binky. It might take a few minutes but you’ll both be happier
