Baby is biting nipples

How do you deal with this? I tense every time she's feeding now, especially when it comes to getting her to sleep for the night. She has made me bleed a few times and every time she bites, I unlatch her and say no biting. But I'm so anxious putting her back on. It hurts to much. Honestly, breast feeding has been difficult from the very start and I don't want the biting to be the reason to end it now, but I don't know how long I can deal with it. She currently has 2 bottom teeth.

I didn’t have a great start with breastfeeding either and I dread him starting teething. I’m so afraid I won’t be able to deal with him biting 🫣 How old is your baby?

@Diana My little girl is 6.5 months

Do you put her back on straight away? From what I’ve read, it might help to unlatch her, gently tell her no, then put away your boob, set her aside and end the nursing session for a few minutes. This way - hopefully - she’ll quickly realise that biting ends the nursing session and she’ll stop. It might also be because she’s early teething for more teeth, so you could try offering her a teething toy of some kind before the nursing session to alleviate some of her discomfort? That way she might be less inclined to bite,

My boy isn’t teething yet and honestly thinking about it makes me feel sick, it hurts when he bites me with his gums, never mind full on teeth 😂

this is so scary! my baby has two teeth and hasn’t bit me yet but i am still terrified lol

My baby has only ever bitten when teething/ in pain. I offer teething gel or toys before nursing. If he bit I gently unlatched and offered the teething toy again. Now if he has sore gums he unlatches bites my finger and then relatches! Worth noting they cannot feed and bite simultaneously so worth really watching the feed and unlatching before baby bites. It’s tough but it’s usually a very short lived phrase. Try not to tense or make a big deal of it as baby can sense it and it can make it worse as baby wants a reaction and they don’t realise that they’re hurting you (easier said than done I know) x

When baby bites say Owwww or Ouch loudly. My boy pops off and looks at me all concerned and then latches again. He is 10 months.
