Bitten by a dog

My parent's dog was going through my bins and had got ahold of my pad. When I tried to take it off of him, he bit me on my toe. I’ve cleaned it and bandaged it, but should I be worried as I’m 35 weeks pregnant and rhesus negative?

I’d call triage just to double check incase you need any extra jabs like your anti d or tetanus! x

I’m also Rhesus Neg and and was told it was only needed it I bumped or banged my belly but defo ring triage to double check and incase you need a tetanus x

I’m rhesus negative and was also told if i bled to call for advice as it may be an indicator for an extra jab. please keep us updated and I hope you are okay! x

You don't need to worry about being rhesus negative that's not important in this scenario. In my hospital we no longer give tetanus jabs for dog bites as long as you had childhood vaccinations. If you're worried it would be a minor injuries unit to treat you rather than maternity triage, as the injury is to your toe there's not a lot a midwife can do. I wouldn't worry personally just keep an eye on it for signs of infection.

@Ezri "if you bled" means a vaginal bleed though, not just any blood from an injury to the outside of your body

@Charley fair enough, clearly not explained well enough! I was just told if i bled at all, but clearly that’s not in the NHS guidelines.
