Lonely

Postpartum is so lonely! Constantly running the same cycle of routine every day so with 7 week old and 7 y/o. Husband goes to work and still has a social life doesn't help with night time feeds. My family live hours away. My friends are all busy with work life. No sign of a village anywhere 😭 also my only interaction is with one of the grandmas of a girl in my little ones class who I see a few days a week at pick up time.

I feel this deeply. I told my husband it's like I live in groundhog day every day is the same. Get up sort kids out school run be at home with baby school run be at home with children count hours until he's home from work or it's bedtime for my oldest.

Find your local baby and toddler group, I know it sounds so early but honestly they will make you a cup of tea and ask about your day! They will all relate to your stress.. if you find one near your 7 y/o school you will probably find similar faces that you see in the playground and have more people to talk to at pick up :) I have a 6 y/o and I didn’t speak to anybody before having a baby now I can’t leave the playground without stopping every minute! I have major anxiety but as soon as you go once you wonder what made you so anxious to go there, remember those groups are for you too x

@Millie 100%! Baby and toddler groups are great for getting out and they’re full of lovely people. Xx

@Millie I felt like it is too soon for me to go as my little one will probably sleep through the hole thing, however you're right the adult conversation might just do me the world of good, I will definitely push myself to go from next week there is one at the church opposite my littles one school xx

@Naomi husband does the morning drop off to school so I can just have time with my little one who at this time is usually due a feed. I dread the school pick up as I feel so drained by then, do you feel the same way?

Yep all the time. My husband had the day off the other day and did drop off and pick up it was actually lovely. I love my girls but it's definitely a struggle atm

@Naomi everyone thinks I am being ungrateful when I complain how hard it is but why can't we say something is hard regardless of how blessed we know we are, I'm sure it will pass but I don't want to wish this time away either

Yep I'm the same my friends think I'm mad to complain because they would love baby number 2, but it's like I'm allowed to find it hard and not enjoy the tough times. I honestly believe you forget the newborn stage and it becomes a bit Rose tinted once they are older x

Yeah I agree we forget the newborn stage prob because we walk around with brain fog and sleep deprived and our brains have shrunk from all the hormone changes xx

Oh hunny I’m sorry to hear this. Do you have an anti-natal group in the area? I’m organising a meet up for mine x

It’s not too early to start any baby class, go for it! Check what you can find in your area. In many cases if the baby is small then they will sleep so more time for you to chit chat and socialise :)
