Positive pregnancy test

Wondering if there are any moms on here that were still breastfeeding their firstborn when they found out they were pregnant with their 2nd, potentially twins? My son isn’t ready to wean off and I just had a positive pregnancy test and I just know it’s a twin pregnancy. With my son, I was an over producer and still produce a lot of milk. Can I breastfeed newborns and a toddler? Should I work extra hard to wean off my toddler? Will there be jealousy? I’m worried….

No advice but wanted to say you'll be in my thoughts. With my 3rd pregnancy I knew it was twins from day one. My 8 week ultrasound confirmed but there was only 1 heartbeat, lost one at 6 weeks. After joining a group I realized what a miracle it is when you see a set of healthy twins. I know women who have nursed multiples along with a toddler. I'd suggest looking on Facebook for a group for nursing multiples. They would be able to answer your questions and help you prepare.

@Stephanie I’m so sorry for your loss. My first pregnancy was identical twin girls and I miscarried in my 2nd trimester. It is a miracle and a blessing to have twins. Thank you! I will search for these groups.

Thank you and sorry for your loss as well. I couldn't imagine losing both that far along. Best of luck. You're a strong mama, still nursing my youngest at almost 22 months and she's not ready to give it to but I am.

Got pregnant while breastfeeding my little boy 18months. He didn’t feed a lot though, just when he wanted comfort was upset etc and bedtime. I wasn’t sure about tandem feeding but turns out he weaned himself off pretty gradually as my milk dried up due to pregnancy hormones. He would have short feeds and then say all done or all gone and cuddle to sleep and now at 22months he’s forgotten all about it. If you’re in UK la leche league have local community groups which are normally very good!

@Aoife oh wow, I never thought my milk would dry up due to my pregnancy hormones… I guess that would leave my toddler no choice 🤷‍♀️ I’m in the US, but thank you!

@Stephanie thank you ❤️ My son is 25 months and does not want to let go. I’ve been ready since he was about 13 months lol

I hope I didn’t panic you! I don’t think it’s dries up completely, just drops and drops and by the fourth or fifth month was so much less my little boy lost interest. I think if you want to continue feeding you can make it work for sure, many do

@Aoife no, you didn’t panic me, just surprised me. I would be perfectly fine if my son weans off. He can focus more on his solids. This is actually good information. Thank you!
