High chair

What age did you start letting your babies sit in high chairs at restaurants? We love going out for lunch dinner with our little girl but just find the pram so bulky in some restaurants! She has really good neck strength etc but just wondered when people are sitting their babies in high chairs?

I'm also wondering if it's time for this...

Once baby can sit unaided and hold their head straight they'll be ready. My son wasn't ready until about 5.5 months and my daughter has just turned 4 months and not quite ready yet x

I wouldn’t in restaurants until they can sit unaided like Leah said. They tend to be the wooden high chairs that have no support. Sometimes they have the ikea antilop chair which you can buy an inflatable support for, so I suppose you could buy one of them to support them, but I would wait until 5.5/6ish months.

As soon as they can sit assisted you're fine to put them in a highchair, the only thing to consider is our lo are still quite small and high chairs aren't exactly padded and don't have high backs. So it's worth basing it on the style of high chair available. In most places because they're wooden and too spacious you're better off waiting till they cam sit unassisted

Usually it's around 6 months give or take a few weeks depending on gross motor development

If you flip the high chairs upside down they fit the car seats which takes up less space than a stroller. I usually just take an infant car seat into the restaurant.

@Nikki mind blown

@Nikki no way, where has this information been

@Nikki well I never knew that 😂 although I don’t like leaving my little one in the car seat for any longer than she has to be whilst she’s still so small

Have a look at the mamas and papas bug, we’ve got one and they’re easy to take around with you, I’m going to take that when my little one is a little older as you can strap it to a chair and they’re really supportive when they’re sat in them, I don’t like the look of high chairs in most restaurants, especially when they’re still so small and can’t sit up unaided

lol I’m not a first time mom so I guess that’s how I know. Some restaurants have a sling to put the car seat in but the car seat is the best way for an infant at a restaurant due to not having head control.
