Cervix check

My OBGYN wants to check my cervix at my next appointment (Monday October 21). I am gonna be 36 weeks on Monday. Do you think it’s too early to check? My friends had their checked at 38 and 39 weeks. They said it hurt.

I had it done a few times my previous pregnancy and it was mostly just uncomfortable for the most part… kind of like when you have a mild headache, it’s uncomfortable but you’ve definitely been through worse. Only one time would I say it actually hurt and it was a nurse who was just kind of rough and didn’t necessarily have a gentle demeanor or touch.

You can do it whenever you’d like! Personally I’ve never had a painful one with the exception of being in active labor with my first baby. That was painful for obvious reasons 😂

Mine starts checks at 37 weeks and that’s if you want it. It’s not really necessary but if you do choose to get one, you could wait a couple weeks. They never hurt for me, just really uncomfortable. You might have cramps after though

I declined at 36 weeks and let my doctor check at 37 weeks. I told her I was nervous about it hurting so she was very gentle about it. She said my cervix was still high so she didn’t try to keep feeling so it wouldn’t make me uncomfortable. So I’d say communicate with your doc :)

I got mine checked at 36 weeks and it was uncomfortable but didn't hurt

They asked me at my 36 weeks and I said no. I’m going to wait till 38 weeks. Might as well not get me excited for nothing lol In my past pregnancy, when I had it done, it didn’t hurt at all. Just uncomfortable/weird feeling.

I got checked yesterday at 35 weeks. I’ve been having lot of contractions and cervix pinching. I am 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced already. Baby might come in 1 or 2 weeks that’s what she said. It hurts when you are 0 cm dilated only

I’m 36 weeks and had my first one this week. It’s was uncomfortable. I have appointment next week I’m gonna tell the OBGYN to not check it.

I haven’t been feeling anything yet. I am scared when she does that I will start feeling something afterwards like bleeding, cramps… I think I am gonna tell her I don’t want to do it at 36 but at 38.

I see a midwife team and the earliest they’ll check is 38 weeks they said. I’m currently 35 and 2 days and wanted to be checked at my 35 week appointment just to see, since it’s my second baby. But they said no

Mine didn’t want to do any before 37 weeks in case it sent me into labor. My biggest piece of advice (I’ve had two cervical checks) is to RELAX. Seriously loosen every bone in your body. When you tense up, it can be uncomfortable. But honestly it isn’t bad at all if you relax. Don’t overthink it- just breathe.

They told me that they could put me into labor if they checked so I guess it depends on the risk you want to take

Had my 36 week appointment yesterday and dr checked my cervix as well as GBS swab- I’m 50% effaced but not dilated, while very uncomfortable and followed by some cramping it wasn’t bad… BUT you can always say no to any cervical Checks! Go with your gut!!
