Breastfeeding after long break

Hi all Is it possible to get baby to breastfeed again after having a 2 month gap (they're 3 months now). She is exclusively bottle fed with expressed milk. Reason I ask is because she has upped her intake in the last week (going from mainly 3 and sometimes 4 oz up to mainly 4 to 5 oz) and I can't keep up with pumping (I usually make between 3 to 4 oz a pump) and honestly don't want to pump more than I am which is 7 to 8x a day (incl 1 to 2x overnight). We are supplementing with formula atm. So I was wondering if it's possible so I can have it as an option when I don't have milk bags in the fridge. I tried and she puts it in her mouth, has a half assed go with a weak suction then pushes it out and very uninterested 😅😂 Thanks all!

My local breastfeeding team keep suggesting to try get my almost 3 month old on the breast, because it is possible the more you offer your baby the breast the more likely your baby will feed. But mine is so impatient and does not even bother to latch or if he does he starts smiling and just sits there not even trying to feed. You have done really well to keep expressing, instead of pumping more times why don’t you extend how long you’re pumping those 7-8 times especially the night sessions. I would say just keep trying with her, her weak suction is because of the bottle as they do not need to try as hard as they do with the breast.

Thank you @Arta ! I think I will try offering her the boob more often during the day and see how it goes, as ive only tried every now and again to see if she'll do it 😅Even if I manage one or two feedings and keep pumping we should be OK! I currently increased my pumping time from 15 to 20 mins. I think they say the max one should do is 30 mins? I may try to increase to 25 and see if this increases my amount x

Yes definitely keep trying and i’m sure she will surprise you and how ever many feeds you manage is an accomplishment. Honestly do not worry, if you increase your time to the 30 mins, the following day you will have produced more. I also recommend a power pump session between 2am- 5am, pump 20 mins rest 10 mins, pump for 10 mins rest 10 and pump for 10mins, prolactin is highest around 2-5 that will increase your supply.
